Telekinesis Pty Ltd was founded in 2000 by Esmond Pitt, its present Technical Director, as a vendor of specialized communications software products.
'Telekinesis' means 'action at a distance'. Philosophers from the early Greeks up to Descartes considered the concept of action at a distance to be self-contradictory, until Isaac Newton postulated gravitation in the seventeenth century.
Nowadays with TCP/IP communications, action at a distance is a commonplace rather than a contradiction. Action at a distance is indeed the essence of Java Remote Method Invocation, one of our specialties.
The company's principal product is the RMI Proxy, an application firewall for the RMI/JRMP protocol, solving all deployment problems for Java RMI applications where server-side and client-side firewalls are required.
Telekinesis also offers a corresponding Jini Proxy product by special arrangement.
